Creative Non-Fiction Workshop
We are very excited to offer a half-day Creative Nonfiction Workshop for K-16 teachers.
This workshop will give you ideas and techniques for personal writing as well as techniques for teaching creative nonfiction at various grade levels. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about the field of creative nonfiction and publication venues.
The workshop will be facilitated by local writer Elyse Marsh. Elyse earned her MFA in Nonfiction Writing from the University of Iowa. A full-time English faculty at Red Rocks Community College, she teaches creative nonfiction to adults of all ages and backgrounds and advises the College’s student-run literary magazine, Obscura. Elyse has also worked with youth writers through John Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth, as well as the Denver Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Her own work has appeared in The Southern Review, Fugue, The Inlander, YES! Magazine, and Going Alone: Women’s Adventures in the Wild (Seal Press, 2004).
The workshop will be held on Saturday, November 13th, from 10am to 1pm in Denver.
Registration: The cost of the workshop is only $10. To register, please send a check (made out to the University of Colorado Denver) to the address below. Please include a note that tells us the grade level and subject you teach and the school where you currently work. Space is limited. We encourage you to register early.
